  • Customs and courtesies are proven traditions

  • The origin of the salute has many theories
  • Medieval knights would raise there visors to
    other friendly knights.
  • Men would tip their hats to people of higher
    authority.

  • You only salute officers.
  • Junior always initiates salute.
  • Cadets salute military officers, CAP senior
    members, and cadet officers higher in rank than
    themselves.
  • Senior members salute military officers and other
    CAP officers higher in rank than themselves.
  • Military personnel do not have to salute CAP
    officers, regardless of grade.

  • Take most direct route to officer

  • When dismissed, come to attention, take one step
    back, salute, then exit in most direct route
