Summary

• In this book you pick up with Ender Wiggin, the
  Speaker for the Dead, as he travels to the planet
  of Lusitania. There he encounters such things as
  Piggies, the Desacolada, a family, and makes many
  new friends. While there he finally finds the
  perfect home for the Hive Queen. His sister
  Valentine decides to come to live with Ender on
  Lusitania, but there is bad news for the future.
  Could it possibly be the Second Xenocide?

Main Characters

• Ender Wiggin- in his 30s, travels to Lusitania
  to solve the problem with the Piggies and to help
  the people of Lusitania.
• Novinha- mid-wife in her 30s, she has 6 kids,
  she is in need of a lot of help and relies on
  Ender to help with that.
• Human- he is a Piggie who befriends Ender, he
  entrusts him with his life, he and Ender make a
  treaty between Humans and Piggies, has Ender pass
  him on to his 3rd life.

Main Characters

• Jane- she is the smartest computer in the world
  and no one knows about her but Ender, she helps
  him with whatever he needs help with.
• Miro- he is the smartest person on Lusitania, he
  is 19, he took over the family business as a
  xenologer, he has a near fatal accident while
  jumping the barrier fence to get to the piggies.

Ender Wiggin

• Andrew Wiggin, Speaker for the Dead, Ender
  Wiggin, the Xenocide.
• Ender is about 3000 years old but because of
  light travel he appears only to be in his 30s.
• Ender is a tall, strong, and smart male. He is
  known for the destruction of the Buggers when he
  was about 12, and is now known as the Speaker for
  the Dead.
• I would trade you all your suffering, Novinha,
  for one child who trusted me like that(276).
  -Ender
• Ender wept with the vast, uncontrollable ecstasy
  that the Hive Queen placed within his mind, her
  rejoicing too strong for a human heart to
  bear(381). -Narrator
• Enders roll in the book is that of a father
  figure, the Speaker for the Dead , and the
  mediator between the humans and the piggies.

Novinha

• Ivanova Santa Catarina von Hesse, Novinha
• She is in her 30s
• She is a mid-wife, attractive, very smart and
  caring
• This is why I called you here, said Novinha.
  I dreamed once of writing this book. But you
  had to write it(380). -Novinha
• She blames herself, said the Aradora, for
  Pipos death(166). -The Aradora
• Novinha is Enders love interest in the book and
  eventually marries him. She is the one who knew
  why the piggies killed and kept it secret for a
  very long time.

Jane

• Jane
• Jane is very old. She can remember back to when
  Ender was in Battle school. She was the game he
  played The Giants Drink.
• She is the smartest computer in the world, and
  has a mind of her own.
• It was Libo, of course. What a dog! He sired
  six children on Novinha, and four more on his own
  wife(140). -Jane
• Once she comes to trust you, keep her with you
  always. Keep no secrets from her. She once had
  a lover who switched her off. Only for an hour,
  but things were never the same between them after
  that(363). -Ender
• Jane is like Enders right hand girl. She does
  everything for him.

Miro

• Marcos Vladimir Riberia von Hesse, Miro
• He is 19
• Hi was a very strong young man but now has
  permanent brain damage because he jumped the
  fence to get to the piggies.
• So come, Human, Leaf-eater, Mandachuva, Arrow,
  Cups, Calendar, anyone, everyone, come and let me
  tell you that you that I cannot tell you any
  more(281). -Miro
• And Miro, the boy Im sending to you Think of
  him as my son(375). -Ender
• Miro is the son that Ender never had. He is the
  smartest person on Lusitania and he knows the
  most about the piggies.

Minor Characters

• Leaf-eater- he is a piggie who helps Ender and
  Miro, and he passed Libo onto his 3rd life.
• Mandachuva- he is a piggie who helps the
  xenologers with info on the piggies, he passed
  Pipo onto his 3rd life.
• Shouter- she is the head wife piggie, she makes a
  treaty with Ender and the humans.

Minor Characters

• Olhado- he is like the son that Ender never had,
  he lost his eyes in a laser accident and now has
  metal computer eyes.
• Ela- she is Novinhas daughter who gets along
  with Ender the best, she is a Xenobiologist who
  helps with the piggies.

Recommendations

• This book was not as good as Enders Game and in
  the beginning to middle of the book it was very
  slow to read.
• I would recommend this book to people who liked
  Enders Game and would like to find out what
  happens to the characters in that book. I would
  also recommend this book to people who like to
  use their imagination while reading.
• This book is the 2nd book in the 4 book series
  which starts with Enders Game, and in order to
  know who some of the characters are you need to
  read it first.
• This book starts slow but it helps if you read it
  fast because once you get started you start to
  figure out who people are and understand it
  better.
