Historical Perspective

• Krugerrand was developed by the Chamber of
  Mines of South Africa on behalf of the South
  African gold mining industry and authorised by
  the South African Reserve Bank
• The Rand Refinery first stamped out Krugerrands
  on gold blanks in 1967.
• The Chamber of Mines developed its marketing
  further to enable the ordinary men on the street
  to be able to own his/her piece of gold.
