Reuse Criteria
  • The extent to which uses are consistent with, and
    preferably symbiotic with, the ongoing
educational and cultural missions and programs of
    the Northfield Mount Hermon School.
  • The extent to which a future user or users will
be able productively to utilize the campus,
thereby allowing the School to realize most fully
the economic value of the Northfield campus.
  • The extent to which users are consistent with the
character of the Town of Northfield and respect
the history of the Northfield campus. This
includes very careful attention to the location
ad appearance of any new construction.
  • Whether in connection with sales, leases, or
joint venture arrangements, the extent to which a
future user or users will provide the School with
immediate cash flow while realizing long-term
value from the property as well as assurance
about the appropriateness of its use or uses.

NMH Vision
  • Approaching its 125th anniversary, NMH is
launching initiatives to secure its historically
distinctive strengths and to educate students
from all countries, cultures, and means to be
confident citizens of the world. We intend that
they will be leaders in their chosen fields of
endeavor and make a positive difference in the
    world. NMH will
  • Be academically rigorous, emphasizing
    interdisciplinary and real-world approaches to
learning. It will challenge all students to reach
their intellectual and creative potential and
prepare them for any college or university they
    choose.
  • Be a cohesive, close-knit campus community to
spur meaningful interactions among students and
faculty and extend learning beyond the classroom
    and campus.
  • Enhance distinctive programs such as the work
program, and spiritual, moral, and ethical
inquiry to teach students the importance of
    compassion, serving their communities, and
    improving the lives of others.
  • Promote cross-cultural and international
understanding so its graduates become engaged
global citizens who will be inspired to work for
    a just and peaceful world.
  • Be financially strong in order to provide an
outstanding educational program and to preserve
its assets including the schools talented
faculty and staff, buildings and land, and
    endowment for future generations.
  • By recommitting to these essentials of the
school that Dwight L. Moody established in 1879,
NMH will strengthen itself as a preeminent
secondary school for students from the United
    States and the world.
