GOALS FOR DEPLOYMENT

Goals for Deployment
  • 1st Deployment of an AML unit overseas since OIF
    in 2003
  • Can an AML even Deploy?
  • Too few people for too much equipment?
  • Will the tactical and technical equipment survive
    movement?
  • Equipment sensitivity, age, and condition
  • Can we test accurately in a Field Environment?
  • Validate testing Protocols and Procedures
  • To test function and interoperation with similar
    organizations - CBRNE Analytical and
    Remediation Activity (CARA) Laboratory -
    Republic of Korea Chemical, Biological,
    Radiological Defense Command (ROK CBRD CMD)

Preparation for Deployment
  • Define the Mission
  • To detect and identify biological and chemical
    agents/toxins.
  • Train and work with similar lab units (CARA and
    ROK CBRD CMD) in a field deployed environment
  • Determine Personnel Requirement
  • 12 total
  • 3 HQ (LTC Pell, SGM Krueger, SSG Jaramillo)
  • 5 Chem (MAJ Moser, SSG Lynn-Carswell, SGT Barnes,
    SGT Tate, SPC Crowfoot)
  • 4 Bio (CPT Pierson, SSG Loudenclos, SGT Harris,
