this title (relating to the Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills for Technology
Education/Industrial Technology Education)
Computer Applications, Technology Systems
(modular computer laboratory-based),

laboratory-based), or Computer Multimedia and
Animation Technology or
10- Technology applications--one credit, which may be
satisfied by - (D) the completion of 3 credits (for students
participating in a coherent sequence of CTE
courses or who are enrolled in a Tech Prep HS
plan of study) consisting of 2 or more
state-approved CTE courses in Chapters 119-125
and 127 of this title. Districts shall ensure
that CTE courses, including innovative courses,
in a coherent sequence used to meet the
technology applications credit are appropriate to
collectively teach the knowledge and skills found
in any of the approved courses listed in
subparagraphs (A), (B), and (C) of this
paragraph. Districts may require a student who
meets the technology applications credit by
completing a coherent sequence of courses to
demonstrate proficiency through credit by
examination as described in 74.24 of this title
(relating to Credit by Exam).

13Review/Selection Process
- Each school district is responsible for adopting
a policy for selecting instructional materials.
It is up to districts to determine how they set
up their review committees, which samples they
request, which publishers they invite to present
their products. - By rule, publishers (19 TAC Subchapter C, Local
Operations) must provide information on their
adopted products to school districts following
the adoption. Most provide the information before
their products are even adopted. The information
provided usually offers a complete sample of
their products or a representative sample of a
large learning system or electronic system.
14Review/Selection Process
- At that point the school district decides which
samples to request from which publishers. The
publishers will contact school districts and
offer to present their products formally to the
committee(s) evaluating the various programs. - Following the review of products, school
districts are required to submit a certification
that their local boards have approved the
selections.
15Review/Selection Process
- Districts should refer to the textbook
rules they should also consult with their
colleagues in other districts who have gone
through an adoption. The only difference with
Technology Applications is that the samples they
request will, in most cases, be a user id and a
password for review. - ESCs are sometimes involved in setting up
presentations for products being considered. All
ESCs have the products available to the public
