Would you believe that polar bears can swim for
20 miles through the frigid Arctic water without
getting too cold?
3
  • There is so much more to learn about polar
    bears.
  • In our power point presentation, you will
learn more about what polar bears look like,
their habitat, what polar bears like to eat, how
they care for their cubs, and also some
interesting and amazing facts about polar bears.

4
What They Look Like
  • Try to visualize the beauty of a polar bear.
Nature has given them the things they need to
    live and be comfortable.

5
  • They store a thick layer of fat on their skin to
keep out the cold. The hairs of their fur are
hollow to trap heat. They have warm white coats.

6
  • They have short legs, stocky bodies and short
tails. Even the smallest polar bear weighs up to
144 pounds. This is as much as an adult person.

7
Habitat
  • Youll be excited to learn where polar bears
live. Picture a place so cold that oceans freeze.
A place where the sun hardly shines because the
sun doesnt shines for 6 months in the winter.
Polar bears live where it is very cold. Polar
    bears live in the Arctic.

8
What They Eat
  • Have you ever wondered what polar bears eat?
They swim below the ice and look for small
animals like shrimp. They hunt walruses. They
also feed on fish and whales that have died. The
polar bear is the strongest and largest hunter of
    the cold Arctic land.

9
Bear Cubs
  • It is fascinating to learn about polar
bear cubs. A female bear will give birth to
two or three babies. They are called bear cubs.
These cubs are born blind and helpless. Each cub
weighs about one pound. After about six weeks
their eyes open. They have never seen the sky or
    felt the wind.

10
Interesting Facts
  • It amazing to learn about some facts about polar
bears. Eating lots of food helps them keep warm.
So does a thick layer of fat under their skin.
Polar bears have very thick fur because they live
    in such a cold climate.

11
Interesting facts
  • Their fur is coated with oil so they can shake
water off easily. They have pads of fur on the
soles of their feet to help them walk on the ice.

12
  • Polar bears rock!!
