  • Expression Cordon Bleu comes from 1578
    foundation of the Orders of the Holy Spirit
  • Spectacular banquets were legendary, members wore
    a medal suspended from a blue ribbon
  • Today phrase used in French language to designate
    an outstanding chef

  • 1895 journalist Marthe Distel published weekly
    magazine La Cuisinière Cordon Bleu
  • School was opened shortly after by Marthe Distel
  • January 14th, 1896 first cooking demonstration
    ever to be held on an electric stove
  • International reputation spread rapidly
  • Students from a variety of countries have
    enrolled including notable figures such as Julia
    Child in 1950
