2Sri Lankan Muslim community and Education
- Official statistics clearly show that the Sri
Lankan Muslim community is far behind
academically, economically and socially when
compared with others. - Central Bank Surveys indicate that the lowest per
capita income earners in Sri Lanka are Muslims
living in rural areas.
3The Muslim community and Education in Sri Lanka
Muslims, out of 8 of the total population, only
3.62 of the government employees. The community
that gains the lowest admission to University is
Muslims, only 4 of Muslims gain admission to the
Universities..
4The Muslim community and Education in Sri Lanka
This pathetic status warrants the community to
shoulder a greater responsibility to prevent the
future generation from falling into the abyss of
educational backwardness.
5SERENDIB SCHOLARSHIP FUND -SSF is dedicated and
determined to help these needy and talented
students by extending the much- needed financial
assistance, which most of their parents cannot

be maintained in perpetuity. - Once it is created, the income earned is used to
support the intended purpose of the fund.
18Endowment FundSadaqa Al Jaria Fund
- Under the scheme a donor donates a lump sum say
Rs.100,000/(US 1000) - The sum donated is invested by the fund to
generate an annual income. The income generated
is accumulated till it is sufficient to sponsor a
scholarship. - Only the income will be used and not the
donation.

individuals and it is a common property of SL

educationally backward Muslims in Sri Lanka. - Our success and the strength in our relentless
pursuit for helping the Muslim community solely
depends on the generosity, assistance and co-
operation of the fellow Muslims.

donors. We all can extend our services if we
receive more supports. - Also we encourage you to initiate similar
scholarship programs in your country so we all
can coordinate in this noble task. - Introduce this project to your contacts.
