Financials

• Fiscal situation still precarious, with reserves
  extremely low
• Situation is slowly improving since reining in
  costs and keeping closer tabs
• Slight increase in accred. fees for institutions
• ABET Foundation established
• Rosy five year forecast remains unrealistic to
  some (including IEEE delegation)

Governance

• More responsive Board and staff management is the
  goal
• Committee expects to report out with a proposal
  in November 08
• IEEE-sponsored motions to speed up process failed
• Parenthetically, Governance Comm. has not met
  since

Partnership to Advance Volunteer Excellence

• Recruitment and Selection some progress prior
  to Board meeting, considerable progress since
• Training considered to be in fairly good shape,
  still things to do
• Goal for this year shut down project and sustain
  efforts through normal continuous improvement
  procedures

Other Business

• International outreach continues to get a great
  deal of attention
• Prohibition on dual-level accreditation lifted
• Discussion of accrediting distance-learning
  institutions Capella and U. of Pheonix
• TAC membership, officer slate, other actions
  approved in consent agenda
