5-Minute Workshop

• An original concept of Todd Zakrajsek
• Bright Idea Award at the 2003 POD National
  Conference
• Addresses the difficulty we face in faculty
  development in making meaningful contact with
  individuals who do not attend our workshops and
  seminars. The 5-minute workshop tackles that
  problem by going to department meetings and
  giving the brief workshop, monitored by the
  timer, leaving them wanting more.
• Thought of as a "teaser," and inspired by the
  Barnum and Bailey Circus' practice of giving a
  brief, free show before selling tickets to the
  main show.

Brief Hybrid Workshops

• A "brief hybrid workshop" is an activity of less
  than 15 minutes (preferably closer to 5!) for
  participants that includes the use of one or more
  Internet-accessible media clips AND some other
  files, instructions, activities, documents,
  plans, guidelines, etc. It is intended to help a
  group of people produce or learn how to do
  something useful to them. Participants usually
  interact with each other and with a
  leader/presenter/facilitator during the activity.
