Title: Oracle Manufacturing Execution System (for Release 1

1
Oracle Manufacturing Execution System (for
Release 12 Discrete Manufacturing)
  • How to enable MES?
  • License Oracle MES for Discrete Manufacturing ?
  • Profile option Set WIP MES for Discrete
Manufacturing Install Yes at appropriate level.
Enabling this profile will allow provisioning of
    MES Administrator, Supervisor and Operator
    functionality.
  • Access/Security Restrict access to the actions
in the global list in the MES Workstation and MES
Supervisor Workbench based on site, role,
    organization and department.
  • Assign MES Responsibilities
  • - MES Administrator
  • - MES Operator
  • - MES Supervisor

2
MES Operator Workstation Overview
  • The MES Workstation for the operator provides
    Manufacturing Execution System (MES) capabilities
on top of Oracle Work in Process.
  • Ability to view the work dispatch list and then
    navigate to several transaction windows.
  • MES Operator Workstation capabilities
  • Viewing dispatch lists for jobs in the work queue
  • Viewing job components and instructions
  • Performing work in process transactions including
    move, completion, and assembly scrap
  • Recording quality results and material
    transactions
  • Reporting exceptions if unable to perform job
    transactions
  • Reporting time and labor information
  • Ability to assign lot and serial numbers during
    operation and work order completion
  • Functionality for serialized jobs to search and
perform transactions by serial number record
  • Ability to create electronic signatures for audit
    capability

MES Supervisor Workbench (SW)
6
SW - Monitoring Shop Floor Progress
  • The Shopfloor Progress region displays tabbed
    regions displaying information for Capacity
Shortages, Current State, Work Orders, Component
    Shortages, and Operator Availability.
  • Capacity Shortages - Potential capacity shortages
    for bottleneck resources.
  • Current State - Real time view of all the clocked
    in job operations.
  • Work Order - Job centric view of component and
    resource shortages.
  • Component Shortages - Component centric view of
    shortages.
  • Operator Availability - view of labor
availability based on employees who have reported
their attendance either through MES or another
time and attendance system integrated with MES.
  • Data displayed in the graphs on the dashboard are
based on time calculated in the server time zone
and not the client time zone.

7
SW - Viewing and Resolving Exceptions
  • Exceptions are reported and displayed for
situations preventing work on job operations.
  • Exceptions can include material shortages, labor
balancing problems, machine downtime, and quality
    problems.
  • Resolutions options include changing an operation
status, rescheduling a job, assigning alternate
resources, or accessing the Scheduling and
    Resource Workbenches.
  • Exception types categories are
  • Resource
  • Component
  • In Process Assembly
  • Quality
  • Other
  • Custom type using Lookups.

8
SW - Viewing and Resolving Exceptions..
9
SW - Assigning Alternate Resources
  • Use alternate resources to resolve production
    problems on the shop floor
  • Assign Alternate Resources page

10
SW -Rescheduling Operations
  • Reschedule operations to resolve exceptions in
    bottleneck job operations.
  • Can change change scheduling direction, and start
    dates.
  • Reschedule Operation page

11
SW - Changing Shopfloor Statuses
  • Option to change the status of a specific
    interoperation step.
  • The job progresses through the routing until it
    reaches that step.
  • Assign Shopfloor Statuses page

12
SW - Job Operations and the Dispatch List
  • Ability to change the order and rearrange job
    operations on the dispatch list.
  • Allows you to group job operations together on
    the dispatch list.

13
SW - Expedite and Undo Expedite
  • Job operation can be moved to top priority on the
dispatch list to make it prominent.
  • Scheduled operation start and end times are not
    changed.
  • Expediting is performed at the job level, so all
operations are affected, just the operation is
    moved on the display.
  • The Ready column displays an arrow icon
    indicating the operation is expedited.

14
SW Exceptions, Production to Plan and Labor
Performance
15
SW Exceptions, Production to Plan and Labor
Performance ..
  • Reported Exceptions View
  • The Exceptions Summary graph displays a summary
of open and closed exceptions on jobs, grouped by
    type.
  • Select Details to view a table of specific
records and to access the Exceptions page.
  • Production to Plan View
  • This graph displays the progress at the
organization and department levels for the actual
    versus the planned production.
  • Select Details to display both summary and
    detailed views.
  • Labor Performance View
  • Labor reporting captures both attendance and
actual time spend on production for employees.
These times are used for generating the labor
    performance views.
  • You set targets for utilization, productivity,
and efficiency at the organization and department
    level.
  • Select Details to display both summary and
    detailed views.

16
SW First Pass yield and Parts Per Million
defects
17
SW First Pass yield and Parts per million
defects..
  • First Pass yield
  • The ratio of usable, specification conforming
output from a process to its input, achieved
    without rework or reprocessing.
  • The data is calculated from the move transactions
    performed.
  • Parts per million defects
  • It refers to the defective parts per million on
    completed work orders.
  • This view provides a large scale view of your
    manufacturing operations.
  • This is calculated from job with statuses of
    Completed, Complete-No Charges, and Closed.
  • Data from WIP_DISCRETE_JOBS table is used to
    populate WIP_WS_PPM_DEFECTS table

18
Global Actions
  • Global actions are views and tasks based on site,
    role, organization and department.
  • Global action display is set using the Global
    Actions parameter
  • List of available actions
  • Launch Component Shortage Calculation
  • Launch First Pass Yield Calculation
  • Launch Job Workbench
  • Launch Labor Performance Calculation
  • Launch Parts Per Million Defects Calculation
  • Launch Production to Plan Calculation
  • Launch Resource Workbench
  • Print Discrete Job Routing
  • Report My Time (Page which provides a manual
method of reporting, reviewing and charging
    resources for calculating labor resources)
  • Report Resource Usage
  • View Performance Metrics accesses Oracle DBI for
    Supply Chain
  • Manufacturing Management Dashboard
  • Search Jobs
  • Search Serial Numbers

19
MES Administrator (MA) Overview
  • The MES Workstation is configured with parameters
controlling behavior at the organization or
department level, and actions at the user level
    based on roles.
  • When you access the Workstation Parameters page,
definition for each parameter is specified foror
inherited fromthe site, role, organization, or
    department.
  • Parameters are used for the display of
    information, security, and actions.
  • Based on user roles and level, predefined
security and preferences control the types of
    functions and information accessed.
  • Parameters related to actions can be configured
    as buttons or choice lists.
