• Are Ultra-microscopic
• Live in tissue of host cells
• Are resistant to antibiotics

• Infections develop slowly
• Difficult to eradicate completely
• Animals do not develop resistance
• Animals may not show symptoms
• Host-specific
• Include fungi, protozoa, arthropods, and helminths
