The Four Seasons
  • This unit is intended especially for
kindergarteners. Teaching the four seasons will
    begin your kindergarteners journey through
    science.

Essential and Unit Questions
  • While teaching this unit, remember to try to
get the most out of each student by asking them
questions that force their minds to explore
    different options.
  • Essential Questions
  • How do our daily routines change with the
    seasons?
  • Why do you think we have the four seasons?
  • If you could choose one season to have all year
long, which season would you choose and why?
  • Unit Questions
  • Can you name the four seasons?
  • During the winter season, what do the trees look
    like?
  • Which season is the hottest?

4
Whats the Point?
  • The main objective in teaching this unit, is to
educate your students on what the four seasons
are as a whole. After this unit is taught, your
    students will be able to
  • 1. Identify each season individually, as
well as, activities done in each season.
  • 2. Identify their own birthday's day, month, and
season. 3. Recite the months of the year and say
how many days in each month.4. Associate
different types of weather to a season.

5
Activities!
  • Here is where you capture your students
attention. I have listed a few activities in
which will all be helpful as your students
    venture through the four seasons.
  • One major project that will be done in class will
be a project called A Moment in Time. Each
student will recall their favorite memory thus
far in their lives and create a picture by using
KIDPIX illustrating their memory and which season
    it was taken place in.
  • The Four Seasons Fruit Salad (you will find the
    recipe online at https//people.unt.edu/mah0270/pa
ge204.html). This fun fruit salad includes
different ingredients which all represent a
different season. It will not only be fun to make
for your students, but also fun to eat!
