Size Perspective(7500 teu cargo ship)
  • To keep the massive size of todays cargo ships
    in perspective, look at the yellow railroad cars
    in the following pictures.
  • The yellow railroad car is approx 2 teu (twenty
    equivalent units) in size, i.e., 8x8x40
  • The Hamburg Express class ship, is 1050 feet long
    x 140 feet wide (320 x 43 meters) and holds 7500
    teu containers or 3750 yellow railroad cars.
  • 3750 (2 teu) containers lined up would be more
    than 28 miles long.
