• Forcing reluctant American children to go to
  school is disrupting other students from
  learning. Roger Sipher says, compulsory
  attendance hampers the ability of public school
  officials to enforce legitimate educational and
  disciplinary policies...(15). The school
  administrators are wasting valuable education
  time on discipline procedures. In addition,
  Schools are neither day-care centers nor indoor
  street corners (Sipher 16). Schools are
  becoming playgrounds for students, and teacher
  would rather teach, not babysit. Sipher also
  suggests that some students are not attending
  school regardless of the attendance policies
  (16). Schools need a plan for what they are
  going to do with absent students. As a result,
  the present attendance laws are causing America
  to fall behind other countries.
