History

• Lafayette Ronald Hubbard born in 1911.
• Raised by grandfather in Montana while parents
  were in the Navy.
• Visits to see his parents in Asia in the 1920s
  introduced him to eastern philosophies
  religion.
• Hubbard Science fiction writer who claimed to
  explore the world and receive near fatal wounds
  in World War II.
• In 1950, he published Dianetics The Modern
  Science of Mental Health.
• In 1954, Hubbard incorporated the Church of
  Scientology.

Why a cult?

• God is frankly not mentioned in Scientology. A
  supreme being is rarely mentioned, and when it
  is, its called infinity.
• Humans are immortal, divine beings.
• Salvation auditing the mind, using an
  E-meter to rid your reactive mind of the
  engrams, thus achieving clear. The ultimate
  goal liberation from MEST!
• Scripture Basically, this whole religious sect
  is based on L. Ron Hubbards Dianetics.

History

• The Church of Christ, Scientist, OR the Christian
  Science Church was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in
  1879 in Boston, Mass.
• Her rough bouts with illness and family.
• In 1866, she claims to have discovered the secret
  of Divine Science.
• In 1875, she published Science and Health with
  Key to the Scriptures.
• Mary married Asa Eddy in 1877, established the
  CCS, then established the Mother Church in
  1890.
• After her death in 1910, authority rests in the
  CCS Board of Directors.

• God is impersonalized! Oh, and no trinity again!
• Jesus is merely an example of the Christ
  Principle.

  over the human illusion of sin, death, disease,

• Friendship evangelism is key.
• Know and clearly define both CCS and Scientology
  terms, as well as true Christian terms.
• Point them to Jesus!
