2PIER Continuing Medical Education (CME) The
American College of Physicians is accredited by
the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical
education for physicians. The American College
of Physicians designates this educational
activity toward the American Medical Association
Physicians Recognition Award Category 1 credit
for Internet Point of Care (PoC) CME. Physicians
conducting online searches on clinical topics in
PIER may claim 0.50 Category 1 credits (either at
the point of care or later) by documenting that
they used PIER to find the answer to a specific
clinical question. For the purposes of obtaining
an AMA Physicians Recognition Award, physicians
may claim up to twenty (20) Category 1 credits
per year for this activity.
