Overview
  • Implemented on our Citrix servers in 2004
  • 2 database servers running in an active/passive
    mode.
  • 2 Softgrid servers
  • 1 Softgrid management server
  • Netscaler load balancer between clients and
    Softgrid servers.

Why Softgrid on Citrix
  • Implemented on Citrix servers in 2004
  • Started with Softgrid 3.0
  • We are currently running Softgrid 4.1
  • Used to deploy applications to Citrix Servers
  • Gives us the ability to have more applications
    per Citrix server
  • Do not have to worry about software conflicts
    between installed applications.
  • Resource consumption on the servers is lower with
    applications provided by Softgrid.
  • Higher Security on our Citrix servers as users do
not need additional rights to application
    folders.
  • Reduces the number of servers we have in our
    Citrix environment
  • Overall reduces the number of connections we have
    in our Citrix environment.
  • A user may login to one server and run all the
    applications they need via Softgrid.

Future Plans
  • Implement a second Network load balancer between
the Softgrid servers and the database servers.
  • Configure the database servers to be clustered
removes a single point of failure
  • Configure the Softgrid servers to use the
database network load balancer for resolution.
