- John Kerry was born on December 11, 1943, in
Denver, Colorado. - He was the second of four children.
3 - In 1957, John attended St. Pauls School, in
Concord, New Hampshire.
- Not only did he excel in academics, he also
starred in hockey and lacrosse. Growing to 6
feet, 4 inches, he became a sports standout at
the school.

- Kerry was admitted into Yale in 1962.
- Here he became an active member of the debate
team, which he created.
5- Kerry graduated and obtained his B.A in
Political Science from Yale in 1966.
- In the same year, Kerry volunteered to serve in
the United States Naval Reserves.
6- A four-month tour of duty as boat commander,
Kerry led five-man crews on patrols into
enemy-controlled areas. His first command was
Swift Boat PCF-4 (seen in picture on left).
- During his service, John Kerry received a Silver
Star, Bronze Star, and 3 Purple Hearts.
7- After returning from the Vietnam War, Kerry spoke
against the war openly. In the picture below,

Committee
8Kerry's prominence also made him a frequent
leader and spokesman at antiwar events around the
country in 1971.

was arrested with a dozen others fighting for the
release of POWs

- In 1972, Kerry ran for U.S House of
Representatives, but lost.
- Kerrys first daughter was born in September
1973, two weeks before Kerry decided to go to Law
School. He attended Boston Law School and
graduated in 1976.

victory for office in Massachusetts.
11Kerry runs for Senate in 1984 and wins
Kerry continues to be one of the two Senators
from Massachusetts for 20 years.
12- Kerry continued to be the voice of America
through his work in the U.S Senate.
13In 2004, John Kerry won the nomination to be the
Democratic Nominee for President of the United
States. He also choose John Edwards as his
running mate.
14- Now with 3 weeks left, Kerry continues the fight
to try to serve for this country. With a country
torn between him and the current President, he is
in fact a candidate in the making.
