Formed in 1997, with support from local
volunteers, CFC/Vancouver Foundation staff
First workshop in progress, Kamloops Rugby Club,
fall 1997

YAC Goals to teach philanthropic principals to
youth, and practice them in the community
  • Start and grow an endowment fund
  • Solicit and make grants in the community
  • Undertake new projects
  • Learn about community foundation work
  • Recruit new members (become self-sustaining)

KF YAC assists in hosting a National Student
Leadership Conference in Kamloops in 1999

Learning Opportunities
YAC members meet other youth, share experiences,
learn new ideas. A great one came out of this
meeting using mini-grants as a tool to teach
younger students about leaving a legacy

Its a good news story, and good PR helps to
spread the word

with initial ideas, final concept, and
fundraising completed by an elementary school

    Tod, Heffley Creek, Bert Edwards and AE Perry
    Elementary Schools)

YAC Learning Opportunities
  • we've sent delegates to
  • 4 national CFC conferences (Calgary, Ottawa,
    Kelowna, Quebec City)
  • International YAC Symposium in Michigan (1999)
    and
  • 2 B.C.regional conferences in Vancouver
  • and hope to send delegates to the B.C. regional
    event in Victoria (April 2005).

visit and mini-grant.

  • Kamloops YAC and Kamloops Foundation have helped
    YAC groups in Grand Forks and Revelstoke get
    established.
  • YACs Endowment Fund sits at 15000 (Dec
    2004), with 3500 in funds presently available
    for granting.
