A Difficult Birth
  • British tanks moved closer towards the German
trenches, as a part of the history in warfare, in
September of 1916.The British tanks rapidly
developed after their introduction to the
tank. The MK IV version became available in
October of 1916, with great significant
improvements in armour, traction, and crew
safety.Few could have imagined the impact these
ungainly machines where destined to have the
    twentieth-century warfare.

The Tank Between The Two World Wars
  • Although tank development in Europe and in the
U.S.A continued. Only the German High Command
embraced the concept of armoured warfare.
Everywere else the tank was seen primarily as an
infantry support weapon. Though the tanks of 1918
were by later standards, the advances in
performance that armoured fighting vehicles had
made in the first three years of their existence
were considerable. Even though the war was over,
the future of the tank was far from done. Would
    it- could it- survive?
