Higher Education and Future Needs
  • By 2014 North Carolina will need 400,000 new
    workers with at least a bachelors degree. NC
    institutions (public and private) are projected
    to have 254,000 graduates.
  • By 2015, 85 of new jobs in the US will require
    some post secondary education.
  • By 2020, the shortage of workers with
    college-level skills in the US will increase to
    over 14 million.

Higher Education and Future Needs
  • US ranks second in the world in percentage of
    older adults with college degrees, but ranks
    seventh in the world in younger adults with
    college degrees.
  • US has high rate of college participation 35 or
    5th in the world.
  • Degree completion rate in US is 17 - in the
    lower half of industrialized nations.

FSU and Regional Needs
  • Approximately 28 of US residents age 25 and
    older have earned a college degree.
  • Approximately 26 of NC residents of age 25 and
    older have earned a college degree.
  • The percentage of adults with college degree in

    than the state average.

AIM Initiative
  • To meet the catalog requirement that all students
    communicate with advisor at least twice this
    semester
  • Communicate meeting, email, phone
  • Mass email to all advisees is NOT communication
  • To ensure that all students are on track to earn
    degree as soon as possible
  • To inform students of university regulations and
    major specific requirements

    earned to attempted hours (Graduates have 85
    ratio.)
