Title: Pick One
1Pick One
And Kiss the Others Good Bye
2Animal over population in Israel results every
year, in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of
cats and dogs in shelters, pounds and in the
streets, because there are not enough good
homes for them.
3How does this problem come about?
4 Just one litter
Thats how it all begins
In 7 years a female cat and her offspring can be
the source of 420,000
5In 6 years a female dog and her offspring can be
the source of 67,000 puppies.
6Shelters
7Municipal Pounds

9Very few survive into adulthood.
1040 of dogs that die in pounds and shelters are
pure breed
11People buy pets on impulse because they are cute
and cuddly.
12However puppies and kittens grow up very fast.
13Children nudge their parents for a pet and they
loose interest very quickly.
TOYS R NOT US!
14As long as puppies and kittens continue to be
born, the home shortage means an early death for
most.
15How Can We Change This?
By helping you become a more responsible pet
owner.
16Provide fresh water and a proper diet for your
cat and dog.
17Walk your dog on a leash. Never let it go out
unattended.
18Put ID on your cat and dog with your name and
phone number. Even write your number on the
collar. As well microchip your animal.
19Keep its vaccinations up to date.
Preventative health care like vaccinations
prevent problems before they start.
20SPAY OR NEUTER your pet to ensure its health and
well being and that it does not add to Israels
animal over population problem.
21DID YOU KNOW THAT
Spaying is the healthier way to prevent heat
cycles. Healthier than the hormonal needles that
are known to cause infections and cancer of the
uterus.
Spaying female cats and dogs prevent pyometra, a
deadly infection of the uterus.
Spaying prevents all the undesirable behaviors
that accompany the heat cycle.
Spaying also prevents cancer of the uterus and
ovaries and greatly reduces the development of
mammary tumors especially if the animal is
spayed before the first heat cycle.
Spaying eliminates the attraction of unwanted
males around your female animal.
22DID YOU KNOW THAT
Neutering male cats and dogs prevents the
development of prostate problems and testicular
cancer.
Neutered cats and dogs dont develop unwanted
behaviors like the marking of territory.
Neutering greatly prevents the development of
aggressive tendencies in male animals. 70 of dog
bites in Israel are by unneutered males.
Even if your male animal is not aggressive, the
chances of him falling victim to another
unnetered males aggression is greatly reduced if
he is neutered.
Neutered males fight less, are injured less, run
away and get lost less than their unnetered
counterparts.
23ITS A FACT
Spayed and neutered animals are calmer and make
better pets.
The health and quality of life of homeless cats
greatly improve if they are spayed and neutered.
Spayed and neutered cats and dogs live longer
healthier lives.
24REMEMBER
EVERY ONE SPAYED OR NEUTERED SAVES THOUSANDS OF
LIVES!
25Think of the commitment of raising a cat or dog
before you adopt
Are you ready for that kind of a commitment?
26Only if each pet owner takes responsibility for
his pet can we help solve the problem and
improve the quality of life of all cats and dogs.
27WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
- Support animal welfare organizations.
28YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE If we all do a little
together we can accomplish a lot!
