The Blue-Throated Macaw
Where are they now? Where are they headed?

Power Point Presentation by Riley

The Blue-Throated Macaw...
  • has a friendly but crazy personality.
  • is an unusual and rare bird.
  • weighs about 1.7 (750g.) pounds.
  • is approximately 34(85cm.) inches in length.
  • This rare bird has light greenish-blue shades on
the forehead, crown, wings, neck, and tail. Many
humans love this bird but in captivity!

3
But Why?
Blue Throated Macaws are critically endangered!
Though beautiful this bird is almost at its end.
Most of its endangerment is to blame captivity.
In 2005, only 200 birds remained in the wild.
Now about only 50-249 blue throated macaws
remain wild, free, and unharmed. Theres a
reason people say, You dont know what you got
until its gone. If we dont act now these
lovely parrots will never be seen again!
This red spot is the only spot on earth where the
Blue-Throated Macaws live, in Bolivia in South
America!
4
Where Can You Find Them?
These birds live in a mixture of palms, groves,
savannah, and sometimes gallery forest. You
probably will find Blue-Throated Macaws in groups
as they fly. This is because macaws are bonded
for life. How would you feel if you were stuck
with your family forever?!
5
And On The Menu Is. . .
Thanks to this macaws beak, this bird can crack
even the hardest nuts and seeds! With ease they
have the ability to crack nut shells. Too bad
humans cant crack nuts like these birds do!
6
What Do I Think?
Youre asking what I think? Well, I think that
people should think of what they are doing. They
should consider that if they keep doing ghastly
things to hurt our earth. The consequences will
effect the world forever. So I think that we
should be more careful with our actions. I truly
believe that we should work to save Blue-Throated
Macaws and then they should be taken off the
endangered species list, FOREVER!
