Title: Homotoxicology History and Principles

1
HomotoxicologyHistory and Principles
presented by Maureen Horne-Paul N.D. Sponsored
by SOHNA
2
Homotoxicology defined
  • A continuation of homeopathic theory and practice
in light of the medical advances of recent
    decades
  • All manifestations of life depend on the
conversion of chemical compounds according to
    well-defined laws

3
Homotoxicology
  • Is a reconciliation between homeopathy and
    science
  • Uses scientific terms
  • Allows for solid clinical reasoning
  • Uses remedies based on their cellular and
    biological actions
  • Attempts to give not only symptomatic relief but
also to treat the cause of disease

4
Goal of Homotoxicological Therapy
  • To activate the organic defense mechanisms
within the body, in order to stimulate the body
    to heal itself

5
Principles
  • Diseases are the expression of the defensive
effort of the organism against toxins, in its
attempt to counteract and expel them
  • Every organism attempts to maintain homeostasis

6
  • Conventional treatment
  • Suppression and inhibition of organic phenomenon
  • Blocks or transforms body processes with chemical
    substances
  • Homotoxicological treatment
  • Activation of the organic defense mechanisms
  • Restoration of abnormal, disrupted function

7
Table of Homotoxicosis
  • Follows progression and regression of diseases
  • Guide to selection of appropriate remedies
  • Diseases and symptoms are arranged horizontally
  • Affected tissues arranged vertically and grouped
    according to embryonic origin

8
TISSUES AND TISSUE PHASES
9

    system including the spleen
  • Mesodermal kidneys, muscles, reproduction
system, heart, membranes that line the
    pericardium, the pleura the peritoneum

16
Homotoxins
  • Homeopathy decreases the length of the
    pathological process
  • The symptoms of a sickness appear under a
    condensed form
  • The decisive factors in a disease are called
    homotoxins

17
Homotoxins (...)
  • They are absorbed by the organism in the form of
    food, air, etc.
  • They can also come from the organism after a
toxic attack by certain enzymatic cells
  • In general, they can be eliminated by an
    inflammatory phenomenon

18
Homotoxins ()
  • Chemical substances that affect the organism in
    accordance with chemical laws
  • Vicariation effect homotoxins that do not
completely disappear in certain parts of the
body, but that become active in other parts of
    the organism

19
Homotoxin

23
EXCRETION PHASE
  • Most effective physiological reaction
  • Healthy enzyme activity
  • No damage by homotoxins

24
Humoral phases 1. Excretion phase ()
  • Favorable prognosis
  • Strategies
  • Homeopathic constitutional treatment (unique
    remedies, nosodes)
  • Reduce the intake of toxins nutrition
  • Engystol if needed to accelerate the excretion
    mechanisms

25
Humoral phases 2. Reaction phase ()
  • During this phase, the organism expulses the
    toxins which have penetrated it
  • During this phase, the defense mechanisms are
    active and efficient
  • Most spectacular phase of the illness
  • Elimination of the toxins through pus, mucus,
    skin eruptions, etc...

26
Humoral phases 2. Reaction phase - Therapeutic
strategies
  • Organic activity modulation (to avoid excessive
    and hard to control phenomenon)
  • Stimulation of the detoxification process
    (necessary if intense inflammatory consequences
    are anticipated)

27

    accumulated in the connective tissue
  • This phase takes place more rapidly if we are in
the presence of a homeopathic terrain of sycosis
  • Example of a deposition illness
  • Warts, atheromas, polypus, biliary or renal
    stones, gout, prostatic hypertrophy, articular
    rheumatism, exostosis, etc...

30
Humoral phases 3. Deposition phase ()
  • Appropriate nutrition or even a period of fasting
are indicated to limit toxin absorption
  • When the elimination mechanisms of the toxins are
overburdened, the toxins cause damages to the
    internal organs

31
Humoral phases 3. Deposition phase ()
  • Therapeutic strategy
  • Every available means is used to prevent the
illness from going through the biological
    division
  • Activation of the organic defenses
  • Activation of the physiological emunctors
    kidneys, intestines, skin, etc.
  • Activation of the elimination of the
    pharmacological toxins

    altered
  • Continuous cellular stimulation caused by the
accumulation of toxins in the tissues

41
Cellular phases 5. Degeneration phase ()
  • The chronic inflammatory stimulation of the cells
    triggers their modification, their
    non-differentiation, their weakening, and damages
    the organic defense mechanisms
  • The exhaustion of the defense mechanisms
(inflammation) leads to the proliferation of
    abnormal cells

42

Activate the internal doctor instead of simply
administering drugs
PARACELSUS
  • When treating chronic illness, the treatment
should not produce any damaging side effects,
    even over long periods

88
Vicariation ()
Biological Division
89
Progressive vicariation
  • The consequence of suppressive therapy
(allopathy) leads to what is known in
homotoxicology as progressive vicariation of the
illness. This term applies to any deterioration,
characterized on the six-phase table as a
movement to the right and downwards. Progressive
vicariation causes deeper tissues to become
involved and results in a poorer prognosis.

90
Regressive vicariation
  • A shift to the left and upwards on the six-phase
table, towards equilibrium and health, is termed
    regressive vicariation. The goal of
antihomotoxic treatment is the promotion of
    regressive vicariation.

91
Homotoxicologys Therapeutic proposal
  • We propose an integrated therapy based both on
    Homotoxicology and Classical Homeopathy
  • Homotoxicology acts on a Tissues level by means
of drainage, detoxication and stimulus using a
    great number of Compound remedies
  • Classical Homeopathy acts on Reactivity Level
    working on constitution and psychological
attitude using a limited number of
    Constitutional remedies

Homotoxicology
Homeopathy
92
Goals of Anti-homotoxic treatment
  • Prevent the introduction of homotoxins
  • Eliminate existing homotoxins

93
Case study Jocelyn
  • Jocelyn is a 50 year old man that had a
nephrolithisis crisis 2 weeks ago. He did not
like the feeling and wants to make sure this will
    not happen again.
  • In general, his health is good except for a few
dermatological problems. About 3 months ago, his
eczema became worse and his doctor prescribed a
new brand of cortisone cream. His skin
    significantly improved.

94
Case study Jocelyn ()
  • During the same period, Jocelyn had a slight
episode of arthritis with inflammation in the
fingers. He was prescribed some naproxen -
375 mg twice daily during 4 weeks
  • Jocelyn is a sulfur type patient jolly,
mostly sanguine (ruddy), transpires a lot

Case study Sarah
  • Sarah is a 10 year old girl that was diagnosed
with asthma. She is currently taking pulmicort
and bricanyl (spray form) regularly since the
    last 2 years.
  • She was prescribed Flonase in spray twice daily
to help control a chronic rhinitis and nasal
    polypus.
  • She has also suffered from eczema, with a peak
between 5 and 8 years old. She has taken
    different cortisone-based creams and
antihistaminic syrups during these same years.

100
Case study Sarah ()
  • Four years ago, allergy tests proved positive for
    pollen, dust and ascarids.
  • When she was a child, Sarah had eczema, mostly
during her toothing period. She also had a few
episodes of strong fever - sometimes even with
    convulsions, particularly after vaccinations.
  • As far as her mother can remember Sarah has
    always sweat a lot.
  • Her asthma symptoms are aggravated at night she
awakes every night at 300 a.m. in anguish with
    difficulty to breathe.
