Wrigely Field

  • Built in 1914 (Second-oldest major league
    ballpark in the U.S.)
  • Originally named Weegham Park, until it was
bought by William Wrigley Jr. (of the chewing gum
family) and renamed Cubs Park in 1920. It was
renamed again in his honor in 1926.
  • Last major league ballpark to add lights to the
stadium. The first night game was played on
August 8th, 1998. It was rained out after 3 ½
    innings.
  • Site of Babe Ruths famous called shot, when he
allegedly pointed to the right field bleachers
during the 1932 World Series, then hit the next
    pitch for a home run.
