OEA is authorized under Title 10, U.S.C., Section
2931, to provide technical and financial
assistance to State and local governments
when the Secretary of Defense determines that
the encroachment of the civilian community is
likely to impair the continued operational
utility of the military installation.
4 What is a JLUS?
- A cooperative land use planning effort
- between military installations and the
- surrounding jurisdictions.
- It is designed to promote community
- growth and development that is compatible
- with the training or operational missions
- of the military installation.
5Expected Results
The Community and the Installation Agree to
- Implement JLUS recommendations
- Continue to work together to
- protect the mission of the installation
- and the public health, safety, and
- welfare
