5II. Follow these directions to complete the
Career Assessment
- Enter the site http//tn.kuder.com
- Register as a new user, complete the information
and click on take an assessment. - The Counselor should have given you a batch code
for the Interest inventory. - The Kuder Career Search with Person match
Interest Inventory offers you choices of three
related items. I suggest that you read all three
of the choices then you must select from the
three items one that you would most prefer, that
will be your Choice 1. The next preference is
Choice 2, and the activity you least prefer is
Choice 3. Do not worry about your skill or
ability focus on your interest only! - Print your summary when you have completed this
exercise. Look at the person match section under
your two highest choices. Select at least three
jobs that appeal to you based on the information
you review. You can click on the icon and start
a portfolio of your favorite job areas. If you
are unsure of your career choice Look at Step
III on the Assessment Results, review the sites
identified. - Job title 1 ____________________________________

kuder website and go to the following website
www.tcids.utk.edu - Select the area that says you already know what
you want to do- search the career database- - Type in your career choice and print each one

7III. Skills Assessment
- The counselor will give you a batch code for the
Kuder Skills Assessment. You will then enter the
kuder.com site as an existing user please use
the same name and password to enter the site.
Choose take an assessment and enter the batch
code for the skills assessment. - This assessment requires that you review each
skill and choose from four items - Choice 1 indicates that you do not have the
skill and you dont think you could learn the
skill. Choice 2 states that you can learn the
skill with difficulty while choice 3 indicates
that you could learn the skill easily. Choice 4
would state that you already hold the skill
identified, you need no training in this area.
Upon completion of the assessment, return to your
profile and compare the results with the interest
area. PLEASE. print this page. - READ Step III on your summary page of the
Skills Assessment. - Schedule an informational interview with someone
that works in one of your three job titles. Use
the attached questions to find out more
information about the job, you may wish to add
your own questions. If you need assistance in
locating someone to interview, please contact a
Counselor in Student Development and Testing. - After your interview write a summary,
highlighting the following areas - What new information did you learn from the
informational interview? Did the interview change
your perception of the job, if so how? Can you
visualize yourself working at a job like the one
performed? List 2 positive and 2 negative areas
you noticed. How will these attributes affect
your career choice? -
8IV. VALUES EXERCISE
- Many times we overlook our personal values during
a career search. It is difficult to realize the
relationship of values to career satisfaction,
however clarifying our values will improve
overall work experience and willingness to stay
in a career field. When you complete the Work
Values Profile offered on the kuder.com website
you will note the values you rank related to
work. - You will rank the values items from 1-5, 1 not
an important value and 5 most important. - Please get the batch code number from a
counselor. - When you print your profile, note the rank order
of your values. - How does your job choice fit with your listed

the values you hold are met with your career
