• Second Life is a free 3D virtual world operated
  over the Internet.
• SL went public in 2003.
• Based in San Francisco with branches in various
  cities.
• There are no scripts or plot lines for Second
  Life it is entirely built by its residents and
  landowners.

  find in Second Life
• Businesses (IBM, Manpower, the little dress shop
  on the corner)
• Libraries
• Universities (SJSU, Stanford, Bradley, etc.)
• Law firms and law librarians
• Legal resources
• And much more

• Second Life is a brave new world filled with
  education, collaboration, and the occasional
  purple dragon.
• Opportunities to interact with library
  professionals the world over in real time and in
  three dimensions is exciting and invaluable.
• Technical barriers still exist for easy access to
  this new world.
