Goals
  • To create collaborative and individual planning
    time for teachers en route to becoming a
    Professional Learning Community, allowing for the
    creation of common assessments, lesson plans,
    professional dialogue, short and long-range
    plans, and more
  • To offer activities for students in 3-8,
    fostering togetherness, and helping children to
    discover something they love doing WKCF
  • To create time for meetings teams, staff, grade,
    committees, parents, more

Grades 3-5
  • 300 minutes instruction
  • 9 periods of 30-35 minutes
  • 30-minute lunch break
  • Reduced supervision for teachers
  • Instructional day finishes at 230 p.m.
  • Activity period230 p.m. to 330 p.m.
  • Buses arrive at 230 p.m., 330 p.m.

3-5 Lunch
  • In F lunchroom from 1215 p.m.-1230 p.m.
  • Hot lunch program in conjunction with Chartwells,
    SPR, secretary
  • Grade 8 students deliver lunches to 3-5,
    receiving community service hours
  • All orders ready to be delivered at 1205 p.m.
  • Garbage pick-up then outside for remaining time

Activity Period
  • Daily from 230 p.m. to 330 p.m.
  • All students in 3-8 to attend
  • Activities would rotate around a 4-week cycle
  • Each teacher will be responsible for
    administering the activity period 3 days/week
  • The activity can be of the teachers choosing
  • Community liaisons may be available to assist
  • Some activities will be compulsory for students
  • The other two days are for collaborative and
    individual planning
