Introduction

• We are dedicated to the development of a free,
  public, concrete skatepark in Ann Arbor
• Skaters, Parents, Teachers, Business People, and
  other community members
• Progress to date
• Presented to PAC in 2005
• Recently met with PAC staff to discuss possible
  locations and funding
• Met with council member for proposed site
• Reached out to community via website, email
  lists, general meetings, and other public
  relations

Why Does Ann Arbor need a skatepark?

• Large underserved population
• 5 of 13-17 year olds skate (PAC PROS plan, 2005)
• Estimated 5000 skateboarders based on population
  (American Sports Data, 2000)
• Closest public skatepark is an hour away
• Buhr Park facility does not offer what skaters
  want.
• City and UM bylaws prohibit skateboarding.

• Free, public, concrete skatepark
• Visible, accessible, source of civic pride
• Location SE Area Park
• Size 20,000 to 50,000 square feet
• Possible phased construction
• Projected cost 500,000
• Estimated timeframe 2 years
