Espinoza (Program in Writing), chronicles a year
in the life of Perla Portillo, a shop owner whose
herbal remedies and religious items provide
healing power for the hopeless people of Agua
Mansa.
From M.F.A. grad Joshua Ferris (Program in
Writing). The characters in THEN WE CAME TO THE
END cope with a business downturn in the
time-honored way through gossip, secret romance,
elaborate pranks, and increasingly frequent
coffee breaks. The novel features its own website
and trailer.
Design Its not just for rainy days. D.I.Y.
Kids, Co-authored by Julia Lupton, professor of
English and Comparative Literature. Forthcoming
from Princeton Architectural Press in fall 2007,
it features design projects for and by kids, ages
6-12.
Winner of the 2006 California Book Awards Gold
Medal, Wizard of the Crow, by Ngugi wa Thiongo,
professor of English and Comparative Literature,
satirizes contemporary African politics.
