The objective of the Transportation Map is to
provide incident staff guidance on getting to and
from the incident in a safe manner.

Why? What? How?

• This map is very important to the resources
  traveling to the incident
  
• SAFETY issue
• Clear communication can be challenging

Some things to remember...

• Time is as always, an issue
• Use Black and White because this map will be
  photocopied and faxed
  
• Must be clear and easy to read, think safety
• Include the division breaks and drop points

Some of the tricks of the trade

• A road atlas can be your friend.
• Show main roads, this is for getting to the
  incident
  
• No topography needed
• Keep it simple, keep it plain
