The earthquake that shattered Taipei on Sunday,
March 31, 2002, has left the city in disbelief.
Killing 5 people and injuring 272 others, this
quake measured 6.8 on the scale. In addition to
human disaster, the city is also continuing to
clean up and fix up their once beloved capital.

In downtown Taipei, many cars were stuck
underneath this crane that was being used for
construction,which was a major cause of injury.

Only 5 people were killed, but 272 were also
injured. Neighboring countries sent letters and
their condolences. The people of Taipei are still
searching through rubble and disaster areas to
find their personal belongings and valuables.

A building, which was currently being worked on
and intended to be one of the worlds tallest by
2004, felt some of this earthquake also. While
being worked on, a crane fell into the 56th
story. The people who were working are the 5
casualties that have been reported.

Taipei continues to clean up and recover from
their unfortunate earthquake.
