What is NILTA?

• NILTA is the independent membership body that
  represents the post-16 sector in the exploitation
  of Information Learning Technologies (ILT) and
  e-Learning.

NILTAs keyobjectives

• Promote the inclusion of ILT into Teaching
  Learning Strategies.
• Help the post-16 sector to confront the
  challenges of e-learning.
• Help senior managers cope with the culture change
  driven by ILT e-Learning developments.
• Support practitioners in the innovative use of
  ICT ILT for the delivery of learning.
• Influence research that will improve the
  deployment of new and future technologies.
• Voice the concerns, opinions and needs of the
  sector at every level.

Structure

• 620 Members across the UK.
• NILTA operates a Regional Network and National
  Special Interest Groups, with twoway
  communication flows between these and national
  policy and key decision makers.
• These established communication channels are
  becoming well known throughout the sector as the
  NILTA hour Glass, demonstrating the top down and
  bottom up approach to the NILTA structure.

Activity

• Taking the e-learning debate to the sector via
• Joint AOC/NILTA initiatives including new
  curriculum SIG (Special Interest Group) others
  to follow.
• Input to Senior Managers Governors via AOC
  publications, conferences and forums.
• e-Learning strategy consultation work in
  collaboration with BT and other partners.
• New Adult Community Learning support networks.
• The development of the Learner of the future
  debate.

Consultation

• NILTA is working with its membership to assist in
  the DfES Towards a unified e-earning strategy
  Consultation by
• A series of events and workshops aimed at
  allowing senior managers and practitioners to
  have their say.
• Providing e-mail support for consultation
  feedback via info_at_nilta.org.uk
• A members-only online forum (available from
  15/10/03).
• BT PPF (Public Policy Forum) online forum feeding
  all sectors of education.
