- 24.8 (24,900) of Nebraskas high school
students smoke
- Brandon Started smoking when he was 15
- As a result of his smoking, Brandon developed a
circulatory disease - In January 2000 they amputated his big toe and
he still continued to smoke
- July 2000 his left leg was amputated
- Brandon quit smoking but still struggles with
the addiction

- 38,300 kids in Nebraska will ultimately DIE
prematurely from smoking
Bryan Lee Curtis, then 33, holds son Bryan Jr.,
2, in this March 29 photo. Curtis would die about
two months later.
On the day of Bryan's death, June 3, wife Bobbie
and son Bryan keep a bedside vigil. The recent
photo of father and son is on the bed.

- Applications are available on the 4-H webpage

June 28, 2007 - Include pictures, news releases, stories
- Upon receiving grant monies evaluation materials
will be provided

- Day camp workshops which could be presented by
4-H staff or youth - Educational or interactive booth at your country
fair or other community/county-wide event - Advertisements or news releases in local radio
and TV stations or newspapers

- Organize 4-H club members to develop
presentations using activities and tools to
educate about tobacco use for - Local PTA, Senior Citizens Groups, Rotary Club,
Womens Clubs, Boys and Girls Scouts, and other
organizations - Recognize pharmacies or other local businesses
that dont sell tobacco products with
certificates of recognition. - Plan a smoke-free sit-in with a local 4-H club
fill up tables in a smoking section of a
restaurant while you eat.
