The term 'ortonesque' was invented to describe a
kind of theatre that is both macabre and
incredibly funny at the same time, the kind at
which Orton excelled.
He was battered to death by his lover, Kenneth
Halliwell, on 9th August 1967.

Josephine Baker, cultural icon
