Walter Ramsleys Special Situations Letter

History of the Special Situations Letter
  • The Special Situations Letter (SSL) was first
published in October, 1999. The SSL portfolio was
steadily increasing in 2000, when the stock
market hit its all-time high. In 2001, the market
began to decline, with many small companies
    stocks taking hard hits.
  • In spite of this, the SSL portfolio continued
to make gains in the market. The NASDAQ composite
fell 33 in 2001, while the SSL Portfolio rose
    60. The NASDAQ dropped another 16 in 2001. The
SSL Portfolio continued to rise, climbing another
    52.

3
Performance Record
4
  • In 2002, the SSL Portfolio finally suffered a
down year as the NASDAQ hit bottom. However, it
did not drop as much as the overall market. While
many investors were scrambling to take their
money out of a falling market, the SSL continued
to invest, and in 2003 saw a 106 increase in
earnings. Since forming the portfolio in 1999,
the SSL has enjoyed a total gain of 617.

Close Out Positions
  • Close Outs are reports on companies that the SSL
has decided to take out of its portfolio.
  • Companies are not necessarily sold because they
are failing often times they have either
reached their target market price or they are not
growing as rapidly as they once were.

Follow-up Reports

activities and significant news from all New
    Recommendations.

three months, and cover what the company did over
    the latest quarter.
