The Australian legend
  • The Australian hero Steve Irwin was born in
Australia Melbourne on February 22nd 1962.
  • Steve had learnt how to handle fearsome crocs and
snakes at a young age - he was given a scrub
    python on his sixth birthday.

4
His parents
  • His parents, Bob and Lyn, ran the small
    Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park.
  • He became a crocodile trapper removing the beasts
from populated areas and keeping them for the
    park.

The family zoo
The Irwin family had their own zoo in Queensland
Australia which his parents (Bob Lynn Irwin)
gave to him.
6
The wild life protector
  • Steve had many close shaves in his dangerous
    career as a wildlife broadcaster.
  • His documentary The Ten Deadliest Snakes In The
World followed him as he put his hands into snake
infested holes and climbed trees to come
face-to-face with some of the worlds most
    terrifying creatures.

7
His conservation work
  • After inheriting the newly named Australia Zoo,
he extended his conservation work to other
endangered animals like the rare Sumatran Tiger.
  • He also set up The Steve Irwin Conservation
    Foundation, and International Crocodile Rescue.
  • Irwin had mentioned that he was considering
opening an Australia Zoo in Las Vegas and
possibly other sites around the world.

8
His acting
  • In 2002, his first feature film, The Crocodile
    Hunter Collision Course was released.
  • Irwin played himself performing numerous stunts
    for the film.
  • He mistakes some CIA agents for poachers and sets
out to stop them from capturing a crocodile.

9
  • The film won the Best Family Feature Film award
for a comedy film at the Young Artists Awards in
    Australia.
  • His larger-than-life style led to cameo
appearances in Hollywood films and TV shows all
    over the world.
  • He appeared in Dr. Dolittle 2 as The Crocodile
Hunter who tried to wrestle an alligator and lost
    his arm

His accidental death
  • Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, aged 44, has been
    killed during a diving expedition.
  • He collapsed after being stung at Batt Reef, near
Low Isle near the resort town of Port Douglas,
about 1,260 miles north of Brisbane, the capital
    of Queensland state.

12
  • Steve Irwin swam too close to a stingray which
have a poisonous barb on their tails.
  • He came on top of the stingray and the
stingrays barb went up and into his chest and
put a hole into his heart, said Stainton, who
