If we needed to make enough cakes to feed 200
people, how much of each ingredient would we
need, if we only made whole cakes and we cut out
24 pieces from each pan ?
6200 divided by 24 8 or 9 cakes
- Ingredients 1 cake
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ingredients 9 cakes
- 21 cups
- 9 tablespoons
- 6 3/4 teaspoons
- 1 1/2 cups
- 4 1/2 cups
- 18 eggs (approx.6 cups)
- 9 cups 2 quarts 1 cup
- 9 teaspoons 3 tablespoons
7How big of a mixing bowl would we need for all
the ingredients?
8Approx. 45 cups or 10 Quarts
Many mixers, like this one, only hold 5 quarts,
so we may need to mix a batch 2-3 times.
9So now do you see why we might want to study math?
Lets get into your study groups and brainstorm
some ideas for your own slide show? We will pass
out papers for your slides. Friday, after
lunch break, we will try to input a slide or two.
