10Now What?
- At this point, we have learned and used all of
the key quality tools that are used in a complete
PDSA cycle - Once the action plan has been written defining
how the improvement theory will be carried out,
the team will carry out the plan - And now, a summary on completing PDSA..
11- Study The Results
- Improvements to the system were tried
- Collect new data and compare with the original
baseline data (measures) - Verify positive results

16Classroom Connection
- The classroom is viewed as a system.
- There are seven components to the system.
- Aim
- Supply
- Input
- Process
- Output
- Customers
- Feedback
- (See diagram in notebook under classroom
connection)
17The Classroom as a System
- It is the teachers job to mange the components
of the classroom system to assure optimal growth. - The system includes all people and everything
that contributes to the process and product of
education. - Both positive and negative contributions can be
valuable. - All customers should have input and feel they are
a part of the improvement process.
18Gage Student Enthusiasm Toward Learning
- By recording the individual student data on a
Scatter Matrix form. - This gives the teacher an accurate indication of
students attitudes at the beginning of the year. - This can be used as baseline date to show the
current situation. - Through the year it can be compared to other data
to verify improvement. - (See sample scatter diagrams in your notebook
under classroom connections) -
19Key Components in Setting Up the System
- The teacher defines the system. Share the
curriculum aim with students and parents. - Explain the process of striving toward in aim.
- Develop Keys to Success with students.
- State Keys to Success with a positive
connotation. - Refer to the Keys to Success throughout year as a
positive reminder of discipline. - Post the system diagram, the aim, and the Keys to
Success.
20Developing Keys to Success
- Step 1 Class Discussion
- Ask Why do you attend school?
- Tool Brainstorming
- (See Process in your notebook)
21Step 2 Summarizing the Discussion
- Students summarize the brainstorming.
- Tool Affinity (If needed)
- Students develop a statement-
- An example might be
- We attend school so we can gain knowledge ensure
an appropriate educational experience.
22Sharing Needs for Success
- Students will brainstorm individually,
- What will it take to ensure success in the
classroom? - Share in small groups.
- Generate a group list that will eventually be
shared with the whole class.
