Flight Check-in
  • China Hainan Airlines
  • Seats are not assigned until check in. Ask for
    special requests at check-in
  • We will be checking in as a group do not
    check-in individually

Luggage
  • You may check in two pieces of luggage per
    person.
  • You must have a lock for the domestic flight
    within China. Its best to put it on before
    Seattle. Get a TSA approved lock.
  • Inner China Luggage limit is lower but does not
    apply to the tour.
  • Each passenger is allowed one carry-on bag, not
    to exceed 11 lbs. and not to exceed 45 inches.
    It must fit in the overhead bid or under the
    seat. A purse is not considered a carry-on.

Hotels
  • 4 or 5 Star Hotels
  • Western Style facilities all rooms requested
    are non smoking
  • Electrical converter needed for cell phone
    charger or camera batteries
  • Water is okay to wash with but you must boil
    water in pot in room for drinking. Most hotels
    have 2 bottles of water in each room. You can
    buy extra on your tour bus
  • Hotels have hair dryers and internet and usually
    a business center.
  • Bed accommodations are 1 King, 2 Queens or 2
    Doubles
  • You can have three to a room. The 3rd bed is a
    rollaway or cot.
  • Daily Schedule
  • 6 a.m. wake up call
  • 7 a.m. breakfast
  • 730 800 a.m. bus departure
  • Back to hotel by 8 p.m.

Food
  • Breakfast buffet is always at the hotel . Western
    food is available along with Chinese food.
  • Lunches and dinners are local cuisine
  • Lunches and dinners are set menu served family
    style
  • Dessert is not served for a standard Chinese meal
  • Bottled water will be available at lunch and
    dinner.
  • Diet coke and decaf coffee are not normally
    available in hotels or local restaurants. Bring
    artificial sweetener too.

Business Interest
  • One night in Beijing there is a conference in a
    hotel at the end of the day around 8 p.m.

  • Chamber will accept business inquiry form and
    Citslinc will try to locate business counterpart
    in China
  • Local statesman from China are introduced.
    Youll meet your business counterpart if you
    requested at the Business Conference.
  • Dress is casual you dont have to change. I
    suggest bringing clean pants with you on the bus
    that day and maybe a clean shirt.

    short tour and time to buy products manufactured
    on site.

Money
  • Most places accept US Dollars
  • Always negotiate/bargain If they say 1000, you
    say 200. If they say 20, you say 2
  • Exchange money in Hotel and keep receipt to
    exchange back at airport. You rarely need the
    Yuan.
  • Carry small bills because vendors do not like to
    give change.
  • Factory stores accept credit cards call credit
    card company before leaving so they know youll
    be using your card out of the country.
  • Travelers checks are okay, but some people had
    trouble using them.
  • ATMs give money in Yuan

Restrooms
  • Hotels have western style facilities and most
    factories and tour locations have at least one
    western-style stall. Most of the toilets youll
    see during your daily travel are porcelain
    in-the-ground toilets.

  • Bring hand gel or handy-wipes

  • Get it
  • Make sure it has emergency evacuation
  • Baggage damage or loss
  • Trip cancellation if you have to cancel
  • Make sure it covers accidents

Weather
  • We will be in China in Fall. Weather similar to
    ours in Beijing Shanghai
  • Mid to high 60s during the day in Beijing 48-50
    at night. Shanghai is the same during the day
    but warmer at night more 58-60
  • China is almost on the same latitude zone as the
    US.

What to Bring
  • Dress in layers. T-shirt, fleece shirt/jacket,
    warmer jacket if necessary.
  • Blue jeans okay all day-all the time
  • Hat and gloves for Great Wall. Cooler at the
    top, then at the bottom.
  • Tennis shoes or comfy shoes
  • (dont try out new shoes on this trip)
  • Backpack or travel purse.
  • Need lock for your luggage
  • for inner-travel to China.

Going Off On Your Own
  • Cab drivers do not speak English.
  • It is necessary to ALWAYS have
  • a card from the hotel (in Chinese)
  • of where you are staying.

    authorities for travel to China from North
    America.
