Title: Dear Family and Friends,

1
Dear Family and Friends,   As you all know, we
have finally set a date for our fairy tale
wedding Thursday, December 12, 2002. We have
started to work with Disney on all the details
and will pass along relevant information as
required to you. We wanted to give you an
overview of the facilities available to you
during your stay as well as some approximate
associated costs so you can plan your vacation
accordingly.   We dont mean to bombard you with
mailings but, since everyone attending the
wedding will be traveling quite a distance, we
thought this might prove helpful. And remember,
you can always call, e-mail or pop around to ask
us any questions you have.   We are hoping you
will be able to join us!
The General Schedule On Tuesday, December 10 we
are planning to attend Mickeys Very Merry
Christmas Party. For anyone interested, they are
more than welcome to tag along! This even occurs
in the Magic Kingdom from 7 PM to midnight and
tickets are approximately 36 for adults and 26
for children. Tickets typically sell out early
for this event and are available now. If you
would like more information, or would like to
order tickets, please let us know as we will be
ordering ours and can order others at the same
time to save you the shipping fee! We are
planning to do something on Wednesday, December
11 with everyone but, have not gotten the what
figured out yet. As we get more information, we
will pass this along. Our wedding is scheduled to
take place at Disneys Wedding Pavilion on
Thursday, December 12, 2002 at two oclock in the
afternoon. After the ceremony, we will have some
special events planned to carry us through the
day and into the evening.
We would love to hear back from you on any
questions you have or items you would like to see
in future newsletters!

Rooms will be set aside at a discounted rate at
the following Disney resorts for those attending
our wedding. We cannot express enough how much
we recommend staying at a Disney-owned resort.
Disney resorts offer free transportation
throughout Walt Disney World, and their ideal
location on Disney property is so convenient.
Most importantly, these themed resorts are clean,
comfortable and loaded with amenities. The
room rates we have listed are without any
discount. As David and I obtain Annual Passes, we
will attempt to book hotel rooms for those
interested to gain a more discounted rate on
rooms. At a minimum, Disney will provide us with
a discount on the rooms through our wedding. It
will be around 10.
This luxury hotel captures the essence of a
lively seaside resort on a boardwalk full of
shopping, dining, and entertainment. This Deluxe
Resort features a complete array of dining and
recreational options. Within walking distance to
the International Gateway entrance to Epcot.
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is themed to
regions of Mexico and the American Southwest. Set
around a lake, it features a Mayan pyramid in the
center of a fun pool area. This Moderate Resort
offers one full-service restaurant, plus other
dining options. Most rooms comfortably
accommodate four people.
The magic is in the music! Sections are themed
around Calypso, Jazz, Rock and Broadway. Two
pools, one shaped like a piano, the other like a
guitar, provide a fun family recreation area.
This Value Resort also offers a food court, a
pool bar, pizza delivery to your room, even
convenient laundry facilities.
  • As a Disney resort guest, the following are just
some of the great benefits of staying on-site

  • Property is always clean and well maintained.

How long should I stay? That depends on how much
you want to do at Walt Disney World. There are 4
theme parks, 3 water parks, and several sports
and recreation options to choose from. How many
days should we buy tickets for? That depends on
how long you are staying. You may buy discounted
tickets through the wedding department and the
order form will be in the packet that Disney will
send to you, or you may buy direct from Disney.
The discounted wedding tickets are cheaper than
Disneys mainly because they expire they are
good for approximately 2 weeks. If you are unsure
about how much you are going to visit the parks,
then you should buy the tickets directly from
Disney. The prices below are as close to
accurate as I could get for this time period.
They may change before December but, will give
you an idea of your costs. Adults 10 and over
Children 3-9 Children under 3 are admitted free.
Wedding ticket prices are only offered through
the Disney Save the Date mailing which you will
receive from Disney and must be purchased at
least 30 days before arrival. Tickets include one
visit to Pleasure Island with 2 and 3 day passes
unlimited admission to Pleasure Island with 4 and
5 day tickets. Moving from park to park (park
hopping) is allowed. Day passes can be purchased
at Disney resorts, or any of the parks. This
ticket allows you entry into one park per day.
You may not move from park to park with this
ticket. Park Hopper passes may be purchased at
Disney resorts or any of the parks. These passes
allow you to move from park to park for four or
five days. Each day you use the ticket, it counts
as one day off your pass and you may go to and
from as many parks as you like that day. Unused
days never expire. This does not include
admission to Pleasure Island or any of the water
parks. Park Hopper Plus passes allow you to move
from park to park for the specified number of
days on your pass. Each day you use the ticket,
it counts as one day off your pass. You can go to
and from the four theme parks as you like. There
are plus admissions with each pass. These plus
admissions include your choice of Blizzard Beach,
Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island, and Disneys
Wide World of Sports. 5 day 2 plus admissions 6
day 3 plus admissions 7 day 4 plus Note, if
you go to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon in
one day, you have used 2 plus admissions.
4
Length of Stay Passes are only offered to resort
guests and may only be purchased at Disney
resorts. These passes offer unlimited admission
to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, MGM Studios, Animal
Kingdom, Pleasure Island, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon
Lagoon, Disney Question and Disneys Wide World
of Sports. Guests may park hop with these passes.
These passes are purchased according to how many
nights you are staying at the hotel. For example,
if you are staying two nights, you are limited to
the 3 day ticket. Tickets are good only for the
length of your hotel stay and may not be used on
future trips.

Walt Disney World has four major theme parks and
two water parks which will be open during our
stay. There is something at each location to
amuse the kids and the kids at heart! Below you
will find out a little about each park. In future
newsletters, we will give more detailed
information on each of the parks to assist in
your planning.
The MAGIC KINGDOM, which covers 107 acres, opened
on October 1, 1971, with 23 attractions in six
themed areas Adventureland, Liberty Square,
Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Main
Street, U.S.A. Another themed land, now called
Mickeys Toontown Fair, opened in 1988. MAGIC
KINGDOM parking facilities accommodate 12,213
vehicles and cover 125 acres.
7
It was Walt's Dream to have a self-contained city
reside here.....unfortunately he passed away
before it could be built. The Walt Disney Company
created a theme park which incorporated Walt's
love for World's Fairs and the promise of the
future! Epcot is twice the size of the Magic
Kingdom, so be prepared to walk. You really won't
be able to see it all in one day, so if that's
all the time you have, plan carefully. At the
main entrance of Epcot where you enter the
turnstiles and find yourself right in front of
Spaceship Earth. Epcot is made up of Future
World and World Showcase. Future World is where
you can experience the past and future of
technology advancements. World Showcase
highlights the art, architecture and culture of
the countries that surround the World Showcase
Lagoon.
  • Illuminations
  • This is a show not to be missed. David and I love
to take time out in the evenings to see the
fireworks display around the World Showcase.
People start staking out their spots 1-2 hours
    before the show.
  • Fast Facts
  • A 13-minute night-time spectacular on and above
    World Showcase Lagoon.
  • Earth Globe is the world's first spherical video
display system, wrapped in 15,000 LEDs.
  • 1,105 shells are used for each show 34 firing
positions. Shells come from China, Italy, U.S.
    and Japan.
  • Four fountain barges each pumping 4,000 gallons
    of water per minute.
  • A 150,000-pound inferno barge uses 37 nozzles to
    shoot propane flames skyward.
  • A full color spectrum of lasers, including four
custom Disney colors (lagoon blue, mint green,
    pumpkin orange and lavender).
  • Walls of flames and a giant torch climb 40 feet
    above World Showcase Lagoon.

Walt Disney first had the idea for a park based
on the movies more than 40 years ago, but it
wasn't until May 1989 that the Walt Disney
Company unveiled the Disney-MGM Studios, where
guests of Walt Disney World can witness the inner
workings of living, breathing movie and
television production facilities.
Through its exciting attractions,
Broadway-caliber shows, first-rate entertainment
and hands-on participation, the Disney-MGM
Studios not only entertain but educate. The
Studios have nearly doubled in size in the last
10 years and continue to expand -- in fact, the
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, an
indoor roller coaster featuring a high-speed
launch of 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, was part of
the largest property-wide expansion in Walt
Disney World history. And starting in October
2001, the Disney-MGM Studios became the focal
point for the 100 Years of Magic celebration, a
15-month long observance of the 100th anniversary
of Walt Disney's birthday. The celebration is
marked by new parades in each of the four parks,
but Disney-MGM Studios is home to a new icon, the
giant Sorcerer Mickey Hat pictured at right, as
well as an in-depth exhibit on the life and times
of Walt Disney called One Mans Dream.
Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and glitter of a
bustling movie town, at the height of it's golden
age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in it's
own right, a beacon for the show-business
elite.. Now.. something is about to happen that
will change all that!
  • During the Christmas season, MGM is also home to
the Osborne Spectacle of Lights. This walk
through the backlot during the evening hours is
incredible! Some facts on the Osborne lights
  • What's it take to make The Osborne Family
Spectacle of Lights come to life?
  • 21,000 Hours of Manpower are required to install
the display over a 10 week period.
  • Number of watts of electricity 800,000
  • Hours to install 21,000
  • Extension cords (in miles) 32.2
  • Tie Wraps 1,000,000
  • Christmas lights (in miles) 350
  • Number of angels 150
  • Total number of lights 5,000,000
  • Amount of Electrical tape required 12,000 roles

"Disney's Animal Kingdom won't be for everyone.
The difference will largely be in one's
expectations. Come expecting "rides" and you're
bound to be disappointed. That's why Disney is
advertising it as "a different kind of theme
park". If you come expecting to learn a bit about
animals, to view them in as natural a situation
as any zoo in the world, to experience a themed
environment as convincing as Main Street or
Hollywood Boulevard, and to be awed by the many
fantastic details from the walkway design to the
Tree of Life, you'll love it!" (ZaZu)
The exquisite detail that Disney is known for
shines through in Disney's Animal Kingdom where
landscaping and attention to details dominate the
500 acre park. On the southwestern edge of the
Walt Disney World Resort, Imagineers have created
a nature rich and protective environment for
exotic animals. Most of the barriers between the
animals and you are natural looking or invisible.
Disney craftsman had the difficult task of
making something brand new, look very old - with
crumbling walls and roots sticking up into the
walk ways. To create just the right feeling,
buildings are a maximum of 30 feet tall, while
many of the trees are over 40 feet tall. The
park is beautiful with wondrous vegetation that
is now starting to mature, a broadway class show
(Festival of the Lion King), a 20 minute journey
into an African savannah (Kilimanjaro Safaris),
time travel back to the Cretaceous Period
(Dinosaur), and lots of exotic birds and animals
to discover.
