5New Literature Experience
- How We Learn
- Personal experience observation
- Feedback from the field
- Focus groups
- Advisory boards
- Usability studies
- Research into work-flows an anthropological
approach
6What weve learned
- For students, if its not online, it just might
as well not exist. - Students are not adept at finding evaluating
resources - Students will use resources recommended by
faculty, but - Faculty often dont provide that guidance
- Many students dont go to library and/or dont
consult librarians
7The Challenge for Libraries
- How can an institution
- Serve a community that is often working remotely
- That is not resource-savvy
- With a wide range of proficiencies
- Taking classes from the introductory level
through undergraduate majors to graduate work - AND help them develop information literacy and
critical thinking skills along the way?
