- Greentree Health Science Academy is a college
prep program for students wishing to earn an
Associate and/or bachelors degree after high
school. - Greentrees health technologies program is a
two-year program students begin their junior
year and finish their senior year. - Students are on a block schedule and spend half
of their day in labs and half of their day in two
different academic classes. Students have the
opportunity to earn 7 credit hours each year
while at Greentree. - Certificates

- Skills USA
- Skills USA is a career technical, non-profit
student organization that is a partnership of
students, teachers and industry representatives,
working together to ensure America has a skilled
work force. It helps students who are preparing
for careers in trade, technical and skilled
service occupations, including health
occupations. - Skills USA gives students the opportunity to
compete at regional, state and national level in
their chosen career field, as well as teaching
students valuable leadership skills. All
Greentree Health Science Academy students
participate in Skills USA.
4FFA The FFA Organization is important to our
natural science programs. FFA makes a
positivedifference in the lives of students by
developing their potential for premier
leadership, personal growth and career success
through agricultural education. All students have
the opportunity to compete at FFA events and
learn valuable leadership skills.

Psychology, Sociology - Butler Tech Online-All classes offered by Butler
Tech On-Line are available free of charge for
Natural Science Center students (Butlertech.org) - Foreign Languages, AP Classes, etc.

- Students can earn advanced college credit through
Sinclair College as part of the regular

- HIM 122 (Medical Terminology) 3 cr. Hrs.
- Allied Health 103 3 cr. Hrs.
- MAT 101 (College Math) 4 cr. Hrs.
- Other credits students can earn include
- Phlebotomy 1 cr. Hr.
- ECG for Health Care Prov. 1 cr. Hr.
- All of these credits can be transferred to other
colleges.

12Admission Requirements
- Algebra I with a C or better
- Biology with a C or better
- 2.0 or higher GPA
- 92 or high attendance rate
- Recommendation of home school counselor
- Recommended (not required) to have passed all
parts of the OGT test. - No major credit deficiencies
- Students who are deficient with one of the
requirements above may still apply for the and
may be considered if positions are available
13Butler Tech Natural Science Center and Greentree
Health Science Academy Application Process
- 10th grade students will complete an application
and give to their home school counselor- ASAP - Home school counselors turn in all applications
with students transcripts by the end of February
to DRL. - DRL sends applications to Greentree by first of
March.
14- Students which meet all admission requirements
will receive a letter of acceptance by the first
part of April. - Students, who can not meet requirements by the
end of the year, will be given a denial letter.
(if that student takes summer school courses,
they can reapply after they complete their summer
school coursework). - All students who are accepted and those that are
provisional will receive an open house post card
invitation in May.
15- By taking Medical Terminology, students are able
to develop an understanding of medical language
necessary to be a health care professional.
Medical Terminology provides the building blocks
for learning in all of the additional labs at
Greentree. It opens the door to a
successful future in health care.
16- The EMS, First Responder course trains the
student to assess and respond to adult and
pediatric emergencies. During the 11 week
course, students learn Principles of Infection
Control, OSHA Safety Standards and earn
certification in both First Aid and CPR for
Healthcare Providers. Students perform emergency
response procedures in real life simulations.Â
17- Medical Office Management, delivered in junior
year is a program that includes skills that are
critical to the success of a medical office, such
as professionalism, communication skills, front
office management, and legal aspects of the
medical field.Â
18- Allied Health 103 is a Sinclair articulated
credit course covers health delivery systems,
such as communication, legal and ethics,etc .
Students earn 3 college credits for this course.
19- Medical Assisting students will be prepared to
maintain the highest quality of patient care
take vital signs, run laboratory and diagnostic
tests, all while utilizing organization,
communication and management skills. Students can
gain employment in a hospital, clinic, doctors
office, nursing home, medical supply business,
home healthcare agency, insurance company or
pharmaceutical company if they know the basics of
medical assisting.
20- The Nurse Aide section of the curriculum prepares
students to take care of patients in a hospital
or long-term care facility. The program is
approved by the State of Ohio Department of
Health and the students will receive a
certificate of completion for the course work
after they have successfully completed
classroom  laboratory work and clinical
experience. This certificate allows them to take
the Nurse Aide State Test.
21Senior Year
22- Introduction to Dental Assisting includes dental
terminology and spelling education requirements,
functions and credentials of all dental team
members, ethics and statues communication
skills professionalism, and job seeking skills.
As well as, an introduction to dental health
education, basic nutrition, and patient teaching.
Included will be a study of periodontal disease,
its risks and preventative measures. Basic skills
of oral hygiene instruction, fluoride treatments
and coronal polishing of the teeth will be
implemented.
23- Health Information Management, delivered in
senior year, explores all aspects of the medical
record, including content of the record, purposes
of the record, legal issues regarding the medical
record health care delivery settings,
professionalism, HIPAA, and risk management.
24- By taking Medical Terminology II, students are
able to develop an understanding of medical
language necessary to be a health care
professional. Medical Terminology provides the
building blocks for learning in all of the
additional labs at Greentree. Students earn an
additional 3 college credits for this course.
25- In the Exercise Science course assists in
preparing students to learn about a multitude of
health-related careers including cardiac
rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation,
physical therapy, corporate fitness/wellness, and
strength and conditioning. This program also
provides an introduction to the fitness industry.
26- Introduction to Pharmacology program educates
students about positions in hospitals, retail
pharmacies, and other medical facilities working
as pharmacy technicians assisting registered
pharmacists in all aspects of prescription
dispensing. Pharmacy technicians fill orders for
unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and
perform other related duties under the
supervision and direction of a pharmacy
supervisor or staff pharmacist.
27- Each senior has the option of an additional lab
which can include exercise science, phlebotomy,
EKG, Internship at the hospital, or Microsoft
Certification for HIM. Seniors have the
opportunity to visit the hospitals in their area
of interest, as well as intern in the summer at
the hospital.
28Project and Work-Based Experiences!
- Students participate in a variety of internships
with area hospitals and medical centers, such as
Atrium Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital, and
Garden Manor Retirement Village. Students will
participate by job shadowing or actually working
in a clinical and/or non-clinical area of their
choice. - While in a clinical setting, students are
supervised by clinical staff and mentors of the
hospital or healthcare facility along with their
health technology instructors
