Responsibility
  • It is your responsibility
  • NOT to share your password.
  • to use the Internet safely!
  • to know the Rules of Netiquette.
  • to remember there is a person on the other end.

9
Rules of Netiquette
  • Never give out your last name, phone number, home
    address, school name.
  • Here is a great site that shows you why! (Please
go there now and view the short cartoon.)
  • http//disney.go.com/cybersafety/
  • Tell your teacher or other adult if someone on
the internet asks you for personal information.
If anyone asks you to keep it secret you should
wonder why they would even ask you that. Kids
dont ask other kids to keep those kinds of
secrets, but mean adults just might ask you to do
that. TELL A PARENT OR TEACHER!

10
Rules of Netiquette
  • If it is on the Internet, it means someone made
    it or thought of it.
  • It is not yours to copy. If you copy someone
elses work without asking, it is called
    plagiarism.
  • Ask permission if you want to use art or
    graphics.
  • Give credit to anyone whose work you use.
  • Treat others like you would like to be treated,
you would like others to know that you created
    the story or art work.

11
Rules of Netiquette
  • Keep your password secret
  • Do not give out your passwords. If someone else
does something wrong on the computer using your
    password you are responsible!
  • Do not ask someone else to give you their
password. That is not fair to them. If you
forgot your password talk to your teacher or
    parent.

12
Rules of Netiquette
  • Avoid using ALL CAPS.
  • That is like SHOUTING at someone!
  • Use appropriate language on the internet.
  • If you cant say it at school, dont use it.
  • Treat others like you would like to be treated.
  • While researching on the web, stay on task.
  • If a website comes up that you should not be on,
turn off the monitor and call your teacher or
    parent!

13
AUP
  • What is the AUP and why did I and my parents have
    to sign it?
  • Acceptable Use Policy
  • That document sets out the rules you must follow
when using the internet at school.
  • It tells you what will happen if you use the
internet on purpose the wrong way.
  • Every time you use the internet a record is kept
that shows where you went on the internet and it
records the time you went there.
  • The school monitors where ANYONE goes on the
    internet.
  • When you sign it, that says you know the rules
    and will abide by them.
  • Your parent/guardian signs it and that says that
they know the rules you have to follow when you
    are using the internet.
  • You have to turn in your card to the office
before you can get on the internet.
