1. Die Casting Analysis
  • Project Goal
  • To analyse the die casting to locate areas with
    maximum stress
  • My Approach
  • Used Axisymmetric element to minimize
    computations
  • The Die was constrained at the top and the loads
    were applied
  • The displacement and the stresses in the die cast
    were observed

  • Stress Analysis of a Pressure vessel with a steel
    liner and a concrete shell
  • My Approach
  • Used Axisymmetric element to reduce computations
  • Separated elements into different material groups
  • Applied the internal pressure on the steel liner
    elements
  • Observed the displacement and stress distribution

  • My Approach
  • Refined Mesh to obtain desired precision
  • Identified areas with low precision and refined
    the mesh in those areas
  • Observed the displacement and stress distribution

  • Project Goal
  • To design a C-Flange which is clamped at the
    bottom
  • The flange should meet the space constraints and
    also the displacement limitations
  • My Approach
  • Made different trials with varying dimensions so
    that the design requirements were met
  • Made sure the displacement was within the
    specified limit

  • To Design a Foot Pedal subjected to a distributed
    loading
  • My Approach
  • Meshed the Pedal with refined mesh at areas of
    stress concentrations
  • Designed the dimensions to meet the stress
    requirements

6. Design of a Glass Syringe
  • Project Goal
  • To Design a Glass Syringe to withstand a given
    internal fluid pressure to prevent burst/cracking
    of glass
  • My Approach
  • A suitable Factor of Safety was assumed when
    deciding the design stress to take into account
    the breaking of glass
  • Trials were done with various dimensions to find
    the design which satisfies the design
    requirements
  • The displacement and Maximum principal stress
    distribution was observed

  • To design a plate with complex geometry using
    plane stress analysis
  • My Approach
  • Meshing of the plate with refined mesh at places
    of high stress concentrations (corners and
    notches)
  • Analyzing the displacement and Von Misses Stress
    distribution

  • Project Goal
  • To Design an S-shaped Force Sensor such that the
    displacement doest nod exceed a given value.
  • Also the sensor had to meet the given overall
    dimension requirements
  • My Approach
  • Tried various materials
  • Conducted various trials with varying dimensions
    to get the design which met the requirements
  • Analysed the displacement and stress distributions

    distribution in a 2-D body subjected to
    conduction and convection
  • My Approach
  • Used Heat Transfer finite element analysis in
    ALGOR
  • Observed the steady state temperature distribution
