Wonder Women

Two Great Women
  • Indira Ghandhi was elected prime minister in 1966
    after her father died.
  • Indira continued many of her fathers policies.
  • In 1977 she lost her elections and even faced
    charges of corruption.
  • She was expelled from parliament, briefly jailed
    and re-elected in 1980.
  • In 1984 she was assassinated.
  • Victoria, Queen of England. She was the longest
    reigning queen of England.
  • Victoria insisted on taking active part on
decisions of the government, and forcefully
    backed those ministers she liked.
  • In the death of her husband, Albert, she went
into a deep depression for three years.

3
Suffrage
  • The suffrage movement, which lasted 70 years,
was by women who wanted full voting privileges.
  • The idea of equality led to women getting a full
education, and take part in reform movements,
    which involved them in politics.
  • Men believed that they could represent them
selves better than their wives could represent
    themselves.
  • Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton
    started the womens suffrage.

Quote
  • "When women are seen with pen in hand, they are
met immediately with shrieks commanding a return
to that life of pain which their writing had
interrupted, a life devoted to the women's work
    of needle and distaff."
  • Archangela Tarabotti, writer and nun
  • 1654, Venice, Italy
  • I think that this quote can say a lot. I think it
means that when women are trying to do something
that they dont usually do they are told to get
back to their regular lifestyle. In those times
men went to get and education when women had to
stay home and just do house work or take care of
the household. Women should have the same rights
as men to get and education and to learn. I think
that she made a point and that women should be
created just as equal as men. Women shouldnt be
stereotyped as people that that have to stay home
    all day doing chores.

Mother Theresa
  • Mother Theresa, her original name was Agnes
Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was born on August 27, 1910.
  • Soon she saw poverty suffering outside the walls
of the convent where she taught. So she got
permission and soon started a open-air school for
    children.
  • Mother Theresa started fifty relief projects
    operating in India.
  • 1971 she received the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize
  • She contributed to history because she really
made a difference in helping those in poverty.
    She gave them hope.
