Title: Dr. Kris Reddy Reviews Dysport and Botox
1Dr. Kris Reddy performs Botox and Dysport
Dr. Kris Reddy, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon,
performs botox and dysport treatments. Both Botox
and Dysport are are made of a protein called
botulinum toxin type A which have received FDA
approval for facial rejuvenation. Clinically,
botox and dysport function similarly as they
disable the nerve that signals muscles creating
wrinkles to move. The duration for both products
are also similar approximately 3 to 5 months.
2Botox vs. Dysport
There are some key differences Onset for
disport for Dysport typically is a bit faster,
but the difference is measured in hours or a day
(24 or so faster for Dysport). However, both
products will need one week for full effect.
The botox "unit" differs from the Dysport "unit."
To receive the same benefit you will need 3
Dysport "units" for every 1 Botox "unit." Dysport
units are about 1/3 the price of Botox units so
the price to price isn't that much different.
3 Dysport has greater disbursion which is
beneficial for some uses and potentially harmful
in some areas. There has been some
documentation of more frequent incidents of
nausea and headaches with Dysport.
